Project: Vigitia Meets Degginger 2.0 (September 2021)

From September 20 to 25, 2021, we presented three prototypes to an interested public at Regensburg's Degginger Cultural and Creative Center. The primary goals of the exhibition were to generate ideas for further application scenarios and use cases, user research, public relations and science communication.

Hands-on research: The pop-up science exhibition “VIGITIA meets Degginger” enters its second round. From September 20-25, the VIGITIA research project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), will be a guest in the Degginger's pop-up space for the second time, showing its new prototypes of interactive tables.

How will people and computers interact with each other in the future and what will happen when we make our environment “intelligent”? The VIGITIA research project brings these questions to the table in the truest sense of the word: In this joint project, the University of Regensburg, Bauhaus University Weimar and EXTEND3D GmbH (Munich) are developing an “intelligent” lamp that projects information and digital tools onto dining tables, desks or work surfaces. The system is designed to recognize “intelligent” and “less intelligent” objects and integrate them into tabletop interaction - from smartphones to teaspoons. The Office of Economics and Science of the City of Regensburg supports the project as an associated partner in the field of cultural and creative industries.

What creative possibilities does projected augmented reality offer in everyday (work) life? Are there any concerns or does the new technology also bring problems? Since the question of our digital future concerns us all, the public must also have a say in the development of the interactive table.

This is why it's time to try things out, join in the discussion and actively help shape research: From September 20-25, the VIGITIA project will be showing what has been done since the last exhibition in September 2020 in the pop-up room of the DEGGINGER Cultural and Creative Center. All interested parties are invited to view the interactively designed exhibition, learn more about the background of the prototypes and contribute their ideas and opinions.
